Stylish Storage Ideas for Your Bedroom
We spend most of our time in the bedroom and it can be difficult to keep things tidy, especially if you share a room with someone else. Luckily, bedrooms have lots of places that are perfect for storage.
Use the Space Under Your Bed
Perhaps the most under utilised storage space in bedrooms is the space under the bed, particularly if you have a high set bed frame. Rather than simply stuffing things under you bed, it is better to invest in plastic storage bins or trays, such as those from Elbowroom, which can fit underneath your bed. You can purchase these in multiple colours or clearly label them to help you categorise your storage. It is best to fit these storage containers with rollers, so they are easier to access and stow. If you find yourself needing more space, you can buy specialised bed frames with in-built storage, with drawers that roll out or with lift mechanisms that raise your mattress, allowing you to store underneath it.
Maximise the Space in Your Wardrobe
We all use wardrobes to house our clothes, but we often don’t maximise the storage space inside. You can place shoe racks at the bottom of your wardrobe to house your shoes, buy specialised hangers for accessories and use tie racks to hang ties and scarves. Many wardrobes also have in-built space at the top. This is a great place to store clothes that you don’t wear often, that don’t match the current season, or are simply too bulky to hang up. It can also house accessories such as hats, sunglasses and holiday wear (including snorkelling gears, ski gear, ball games or beach mats).
Invest in Jewellery Boxes or Trees
If you are a woman (or share a room with one), you will know that jewellery takes up a surprisingly large amount of room. By investing in a jewellery box and or jewellery tree, you can have a designated area for all your jewellery without it laying about random surfaces in your room. You can organise your jewellery according to type, style or colour to make it more easily accessible. As an added benefit, this will prevent your necklaces from getting tangled and earrings and rings from getting lost.
Put up Wall-Mounted Shelves
Many storage companies and furniture stores sell wall-mounted shelves that are perfect if you need shelving, but don’t want to clutter up your room with standing shelves. As their names suggests, wall-mounted shelves simply attach to the wall. These shelves can be used to house books, ornaments, collectible figurines, photo frames and other curios.
Create Storage Behind Doors
Most people forget that there is usable space behind their doors. In most rooms you will have at least one door (the door into your room) and most will have wardrobe doors. You can buy specialised storage that fits over the door, or onto the door with brackets. Door storage comes in a variety of styles, including small racks, shelves or pouches.
With these simple storage ideas you can have your bedroom looking organised and tidy in no time.
So what about you? How do you create stylish storage in your bedroom?
