This easy and natural bath recipe is perfect for anyone having trouble with their skin.
Oatmeal has been used for centuries to provide relief from dry, itchy and irritated skin.
Sunburn, windburn, acne, excess oil production, rashes, scratches and allergic reactions can leave your skin feeling and looking irritated. Relaxing in an oatmeal bath will provide relief and comfort and is simple to prepare.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup of rolled oats (not instant/quick oats)
1 chamomile tea bag or 1 heaped teaspoon of chamomile tea
1 knee high stocking.
METHOD
Place the rolled oats and the chamomile tea into the stocking, and tie off close to the oats.
Place the stocking in the bath as it is filling.
When you get in the bath, every now and then give the oatmeal bag a gentle squeeze to release the oat milk.
You can use the oatmeal bag as an all over gentle exfoliator as long as your skin is not broken or weeping.
This recipe is safe for use with children, and can also be soothing to baby’s skin. (Mix together oats and chamomile tea) but only use 1/4 of the mixture. Store the balance in an airtight container.

Sharing today for #IBOT with Essentially Jess
I have used oats in a stocking just like this for my son’s bath instead of soap because of his eczema. It makes the bath so soft and smooth! It’s very inviting actually. #teamIBOT
Thanks, Nikki – I’ve never tried oats before as a solution for irritated skin, but I really should give this a go. I’ve struggled with eczema forever and tried a lot of things. Coconut Oil actually did wonders for me. But I’ll definitely try this out – if I ever find the time to take a bath!
Oh, thank you for this. I am going to have to try it. I tend to suffer from dry skin every now and then as does my three year old and I have had to stop using bubble bath because of the drying effect on our skin. This will hopefully give us back our smooth skin. 🙂
OOooh!! I am doing this tonight if the kids fall asleep early enough, sounds amazing! xx
I think I may just have to try this sometime !!!! I normally use the QV bath oil !!
Have the best day and thank you for sharing.

That sounds amazing! Too bad we don’t have a bath at our place, otherwise I would try it for sure.
Oh I used to have these with all my eczema when I was little – a stocking with oatmeal though no chamomile – must try this – thanks for the reminder 🙂
Will have to give this one a try and see if it soothes my psoriasis, because the itching is driving me mad.
