5 Ways To Celebrate Your Wedding Anniversary is a post in collaboration with Pinetrees Lodge.
If your wedding anniversary is on the horizon, congratulations! If you want to plan something extra special to celebrate with your significant other, you’ll need to organise things in advance to ensure everything runs smoothly, whether your plans are large or small. Stuck for ideas? Here are five options to consider when it comes to celebrating your fifth wedding anniversary (or any anniversary for that matter).
The Weekend Away
Get the grandparents to babysit for the weekend and escape to a luxurious retreat for 48 hours to enjoy each other’s company away from the distractions of your everyday lives. For example, you could check out Lord Howe Island accommodation and enjoy a beautiful weekend at Pinetrees Lodge surrounded by stunning views, fine-dining experiences and romantic activities, such as a walk along the beach at sunset. You’ll return from your weekend away feeling more in love than ever before, if that’s even possible.
A Romantic Dinner
When it comes to wooing your other half with a romantic dinner for two, do your research and choose a venue with a magnificent view and a mouthwatering menu with multiple courses. If possible, opt for a private table or one that is separated from other casual diners because that will make the experience all the more special. Book in advance and ensure the venue knows it’s a special occasion to avoid any mishaps and awkward encounters. Bonus points if there’s a bunch of roses waiting on the table.
A Homemade Feast
If you prefer to stay at home and celebrate the special occasion in your very own abode, don’t forget to plan ahead so you have all of the essentials on hand. Pull out all of the stops and organise a romantic evening in. Cook a homemade dinner with all of the trimmings and watch your favourite movie over dessert and a bottle of wine as you snuggle on the couch. A lot of the time, the low-key occasions are better than extravagant plans, so don’t be afraid to stay at home and make it special in your own way.
A Special Gift
Wood is the traditional gift for five-year wedding anniversaries, so consider giving a gift that incorporates wood to make it significant for the occasion. It could be an antique coffee table, a creative décor piece for your home or something handmade and unique. Whatever it is, make sure you incorporate an aspect of wood when gifting on your wedding anniversary.
Renew Your Vows
Whether you prefer an intimate ceremony for two or want to make it a family event, consider renewing your vows on your wedding anniversary and make it a tradition thereafter. After a year or more of marriage, you would have certainly learnt some new things about your relationship, so include them when you renew your vows to make it more personal and sentimental.
Of course, no matter what your plans are for your wedding anniversary, it’s bound to be an exciting time for you and your lover, so celebrate together and remember the priority is to enjoy each other’s company. These are all great ideas. My husband and I have only been married for 3.5 years but we both forgot our anniversary this year, how bad is that!?! Deep in the trenches with a couple of toddlers it’s easy to forget… I might suggest a belated anniversary weekend away!
Can’t believe you BOTH forgot!
